16th lotus flower festival to kick off at Daguan Park, Kunming

The 16th lotus festival at Daguan Park in Kunming will be held on the Dragon Boat Festival. There will be 6,000 potted lotus, and about 106,666 m2 of lotus in the lake. Water lilies, papyrus, cannas and others will burst into bloom and decorate this summer as well.

Compared with last year, the varieties of lotus in Daguan Park increased significantly this year. Since March, the park has introduced 120 new lotus varieties from Nanjing, Chongqing and Wuhan, about 1,500 pots with rich and diverse color, including white, yellow, red and so on.

The park will also invite a number of local enterprises in Yunnan to have a live stream together for promoting the popularity of Yunnan’s products. Moreover, 18 storied historical buildings around China, such as Yellow Crane Tower, Tengwang Pavilion, Yueyang Tower, as well Daguan Pavilion, will be lit up at 7 p.m. to pray for peace and prosperity of the nation.

In addition to the lotus exhibition, the park will also hold a bonsai exhibition in the south garden, so that visitors can experience the rich history and culture of the Daguan Pavilion while enjoy scenic beauty.
