A lotus-themed cultural festival is scheduled to kick off at Cuihu Park in Kunming on July 20.

The history of planting lotus at Cuihu Park can be traced back to the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). During the festival, more than 100 varieties of lotus will be on show including some rare lotus flowers.

An old photos exhibition with the theme of "Memory of Cuihu Park" will also be held during the festival. Besides, more than 10,000 fireflies will lighten up the sky in the night.

The festival will last nearly three months.
