The lotus seems charming after a rain.

The ninth Lotus Festival will open in Daguan Park (Grand View Park) in Kunming on Saturday(July 13), and will last to August 31.

Travelers will see beautiful blooming lotus flowers in the lake.

There are many places known for lotus flowers in Yunnan,such as the Daguan Park(大观公园) and Cuihu Park(翠湖公园) in Kunming, Puzhehei(普者黑) in Qiubei County, the Tropical Plants Garden（热带植物园） in Xishuangbanna, and the Yilong Lake(异龙湖) in Shipin County.

Using lotus to decorate water scene is quite common in Chinese gardens. Depending on its beautiful color and elegant demeanor, lotus has gone deep into people’s spiritual world. At the same time, lotus has also deeply rooted in people’s heart by the practicality of its stem (root) and fruit (seed).

Space lotuses blooming in Daguan Park

The No.36 space lotus will be shown during the festival in the Daduan Park. The space lotus is cultivated after staying in the space for over 350 hours on a recoverable satellite. It is known as the best variety of lotus.

The park will also present over 20 kind of lotus, including the Royal Lotus. It was introduced from Xishuangbanna for the first time, and its leaf can even support the weight of a child.
