[InKunming--Kunming] July is the best time to admire lotus flowers. The 5th Lotus Flower Festival of Cuihu Park(also called Green Lake Park) will kick off on July 9th and lasts for like two months. During that period, over 40 mu (about 6.6 acres) of 20 varieties lotus await tourists.

The lotus flowers at Cuihu Park are in full bloom this year, which are earlier than the ones in other parks. At the end of May, there were many flower buds standing on the surface of the water. As times stretches,more and more lotus flowers blossom, making a beautiful landscape. Especially, when the breeze gently blows, people walking inside the park will feel comfortable and nice.

All the preparatory work of the Lotus Flower Festival has been started in March this year including drying the pond, disinfection, replanting and a host of issues. As a result, more than 20 lotus varieties will be displayed, such as the black one and white one from Puzhehei. All the visitors can appreciate the beauty of sorts of lotus flowers and take pictures with them, according to the staff.

In addition, an oil painting exhibition themed on environmental protection will be held during the Lotus Flower Festival.The painter Liu Yong will use oil paintings to tell stories of environmental protection so as to call for people to participate in the work of environmental protection.
