At this time of year, Kunming, the city of spring, is in full bloom, bursting with vitality and fragrance. During the Spring Festival holiday, various parks and scenic spots have launched flower events, providing a dazzling visual feast for residents and tourists.

Tulips in Full Bloom

Stepping into Kunming's parks and scenic spots, the sight of "spring flowers blooming" greets you. In Daguan Park, the plum blossom trees, adorned with flowers, are scattered along the lakeside, accompanied by the vibrant blooms of common poppies, showcasing an array of colorful petals.

Cuihu Park has also meticulously prepared a tulip exhibition. This year, the exhibition has significantly increased in variety and scale compared to previous years. The park has planted approximately 200,000 tulips of 23 different varieties, expanding its planting area from about 1,000 square meters in previous years to around 4,000 square meters, complemented by 32,000 seasonal flowers like narcissus and common poppies. Additionally, the park has adorned the Jiulongchi bell tower with a warm red scarf and set up a "Colorful Butterfly" photo spot and a Kunming dialect wall in the Camellia Garden.

At present, the tulips at Laoyuhe Wetland Park have also reached their peak blooming period. The park has carefully selected high-quality bulbs imported from the Netherlands, planting over 200,000 tulips of more than 30 varieties. The flowering cycle is divided into early, mid, and late categories and is expected to last until the end of March.

Peonies Displaying National Beauty

Where can one find the best sights in Kunming during the Spring Festival? The peony flower exhibition at Tanhua Temple is undoubtedly the first choice. This year, the Tanhua Temple Park is hosting its 14th Peony Flower Exhibition and Grand Flower Festival to herald the arrival of spring. The exhibition features an impressive display of over 1,000 vibrant peony pots. Nine color schemes of peonies come together, with reds that are passionate and bold, pinks that are gentle and graceful, whites that are pure and noble, and purples that are mysterious and elegant—each color exudes distinct charm.

Inside the park, over 2,000 pots of cyclamen persicum are blooming alongside 100,000 colorful seasonal flowers, creating a spectacular floral world. The peony blooming period at Tanhua Temple is said to last until the end of April, giving citizens and tourists plenty of time to enjoy the national beauty of peonies.

Plum Blossom and Rosa Chinensis Showcasing Unique Charm

In the Kunming Suburban Wild Park, 3,000 beautiful plum blossom trees are in full bloom, and when the sun is shining, it's the perfect time to view the flowers.

The Kunming Suburban Wild Park is also hosting the 16th Beauty Plum Blossom Flower Exhibition and the first Spring Rose Chinensis Exhibition, marking the debut of roses chinensis in the suburban park during the Spring Festival. The beautiful plum blossoms and roses chinensis complement each other, adding more color to the Spring Festival holiday.

One of the "Three Uncommon Trees" in Heilongtan Park, the Tang Mei, is famous far and wide. The park has established a plum blossom viewing area covering 520 acres, making it a famous destination for plum blossom viewing in Kunming. During the Spring Festival, various unique varieties of plum blossoms have entered their blooming period in the park.

Moreover, after years of cultivation efforts, the park has successfully introduced wintersweet, and every year in late winter and early spring, a unique floral spectacle will be created with both varieties in bloom. During the 29th "Longquan Plum Blossom Festival" held in the park, citizens and tourists can also visit the "Exquisite Plum Blossom Stone Exhibition", showcasing 51 exquisite bonsais presented by international and national bonsai artists, alongside 23 rare varieties of plum blossoms and six groups cultivated within the park.

Camelia Flowers in Vibrant Bloom

Currently, the camellia flowers are blooming in the Jindian Scenic Area of Kunming, with each blossom adding vibrancy and joy to the park.

According to the scenic area staff, the area for potted and ground-cultivated camellias extends over 600 acres, with nearly 400,000 camellias on display. There are early and late flowering varieties, with a massive quantity and variety of camellias blooming sequentially. The flowering period for camellias will continue until late March or early April, making it the best time for viewing. During this period, more than 1,200 varieties of camellias imported from all over the world, along with the vividly colored and diverse Yunnan camellias, will serve as the most vibrant highlights of spring in the city.

In addition to camellia flowers, the central greenhouse in the Jindian Scenic Area, covering 4,000 square meters, features a themed exhibition titled "Turning to See You,” showcasing nearly 10,000 orchids. The special exhibition also includes over 100 varieties and more than 300 rare plants, simulating the habitat of orchid species and featuring a variety of tropical plants to showcase the biodiversity and natural ecology of orchids in a multi-dimensional space.

Now that flowers are blooming in Kunming's major parks and scenic spots, the floral festival has begun. Citizens and tourists are cordially invited to partake in a romantic rendezvous with the blossoms of myriad colors.
