Around the time of the "Greater Snow" solar term, black-necked cranes arrived at Bi'ao Village, JIngan Town, Daguan County. As a national first-class protected animal, the rare arrival of black-headed cranes adorns the land like elves, adding a vibrant touch to the scenery.
To ensure suitable habitat for the black-headed cranes, the local party committee and the government appointed staff to provide timely feeding and mobilized residents to protect their living environment.
Ma Minlong from Bi'ao Village said, "I visit the areas frequented by the black-headed cranes daily to check the corn scattered the day before and replenish it as needed. At the same time, I make the villagers aware of the need to avoid disturbing or harming the cranes so that they can stay here safely throughout the winter."
In the fields of Bi'ao Village, the black-necked cranes move gracefully, whether leisurely strolling, concentrating on foraging, or spreading their wings to soar. They form a picturesque scene alongside the farmers working in the fields, illustrating the harmonious coexistence of man and nature. According to Ma Minlong, the cranes usually arrive around the tenth month of the Chinese lunar calendar and leave in the third month of the following year.
The warmth and hospitality of the local community have led to a gradual increase in the number of black-headed cranes visiting for the winter. "When the black-necked cranes first arrived this year, about 10 of them were there. Over time, their numbers have increased, and now there are around 30 of them," Ma said.
The presence of black-necked cranes in Daguan is undoubtedly a precious gift from nature. With the combined efforts of residents and relevant departments, these cranes will become a beautiful and long-awaited attraction in Daguan, offering a rare spectacle for visitors to admire.
