From August 10th to 18th, themed on "Ca fan er, Fei dian bu ke" Dianchi East Coast International Coffee Culture Carnival will be held in the eastern shore of Dianchi Lake in Kunming, offering a series of events dubbed "Extraordinary Coffee." These events allow visitors to immerse themselves in the urban and fashionable lifestyle of Kunming, embracing "A Life Called Yunnan".

Visual feast: drones light up the night sky over Dianchi Lake

On the night of August 11th, the "Extraordinary Coffee" event series will showcase a drone performance that perfectly married technology with art. Operated by skilled technicians, a thousand drones took to the skies above Dianchi Lake, painting breathtaking images related to coffee, Yunnan, and art.

The drone performance is organized by Shanghai Crostars Innovation Culture and Tourism Technology Group Co., Ltd, and meticulously planned and executed by Yu Wei, stands as a major highlight of the series. A fleet of 1,000 drones formed intricate patterns featuring "A Life Called Yunnan," "From Coffee Beans to Coffee Powder," local landmarks, and coffee elements, with about a third of these patterns displayed in 3D. The nearly 20-minute show creatively unveiled these images one by one, offering a visual and emotional impact to the audience.

"Our drone performance will make visitors on the cool shores of Dianchi Lake experience the limitless beauty brought by technology, showcasing the most 'City' lifestyle of Kunming," Yu Wei commented on the design of the patterns. "In designing, we considered how best to present coffee, Kunming's landmarks, and distinct scenic spots in their most beautiful form, how to use drones to offer a vision of Yunnan that is the most stylish and international, and even how this unique form of art accentuates Kunming's charm and cultural depth as an international tourist city."

Coffee as the bridge, showcasing an international flair

"This drone performance, using coffee as the bridge, integrates special products, artistic culture, natural scenery, and a fashionable lifestyle, allowing visitors to deeply experience 'A Life Called Yunnan.' The colorful imagery lets tourists from around the world feel Kunming's unique charm and cultural depth on the shores of Dianchi Lake," Yu Wei explained.

During the carnival, a series of events will unfold, including open mic coffee talks, an international traveling art show, a collaboration  mushroom feast by Southeast Asian Michelin chefs and international chefs, international cyclists touring Kunming, and coffee and art activities at Park 1903. These events will further allow visitors to experience the international and fashionable atmosphere of Kunming.

In additions, the carnival features the CTI International Coffee Latte Art Competition, "Walking Coffee" roadshow—an original on-road art performance—and other vibrant activities with an international flair. On the day of Qixi Festival, couples and visitors are invited to partake in a world-class feat by attempting to set a Guinness World Record™ for the "Largest Coffee Tasting Party" by the summer shores of Dianchi Lake.
