Kunming metro line 4 and phase II of line 6 have been starting trail operation since September 23. These two new lines connect urban area with airport, railway stations, and coach stations, increase 50.7 kilometers of operating mileage, making Kunming’s mileage to 139.4 kilometers. 

Line 4:

Line 4 starts from Jinchuan Road station in the northwest of Kunming city, and ends at Kunming South Railway station in Chenggong. It passes through 6 administrative areas with 29 stations and a total length of 43.4 kilometers.

Operation Hours: 

Jinchuan Road -- Kunming South Railway station, 6:20 a.m. -- 10:20 p.m.

Kunming South Railway station -- Jinchuan Road, 6:20 a.m. -- 10:45 p.m.

It runs every 6 minutes during peak hours on weekdays, weekends and official holidays, and every 8 minutes during off-peak hours.

Phase II of Line 6：

Phase II of line 6 runs from the urban area to the airport and the phase I has been opened in 2012. Phase II starts from Dongfeng Square, with a total length of 7.28 kilometers. There are 4 stations, Tangzixiang station, Chajie station, Dongjiao station and Juhua station.

Operation Hours: 

Tangzixiang station -- Kunming Changshui International Airport, 6:20 a.m. -- 10:55 p.m.

Kunming Changshui International Airport -- Tangzixiang station, 6:20 a.m. -- 11:00 p.m.

It runs every 10 minutes, takes 29 minutes in total.

Fares:

The price varies based on the distance for both line 4 and line 6. It is 2 yuan for the first 4km, 7 yuan for the entire of line 4.

What’s the special for line 4?

1. The most interesting line

Each station has its own historical and cultural characteristics, and is mainly divided into 4 areas, with science, business, sports and education as the theme. They are colored in blue, red, green and ochre.

2. The most nostalgic line

The North Railway Station is the most distinctive one on line 4. Yellow interior reminds people of the old buildings in streets of Kunming, with a unique Yunnan's French style. Meanwhile, about 11.5 kilometers of line 4 shares the track with the meter-gage railway which is of great significance to Yunnan. 

3. The most colorful line

Kunming is known as spring city, therefore, flower is indispensable to the decoration. In Dounan station, green leaves and flowers are arranged everywhere, as well as Jingui road station. Once you get out of the station, you will see colorful pillars and lights, which makes you feel like being in a sea of flowers.
