In winter, flocks of gray cranes play and feed in the Lashi Lake Wetland in Yulong Naxi Autonomous County. Sometimes strolling leisurely, sometimes soaring into the sky, they bring boundless vitality and energy to the wetland. Recently, staff from the Kunming Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Lashi Lake Nature Reserve Management Bureau counted about 700 gray cranes in the reserve.
The Lashi Lake Plateau Wetland is an important migratory corridor for migratory birds on China's western migration route and was included in China's Migratory Bird Flyway Protection and Restoration Action Plan for China this year.
