Currently, as the temperature drops below zero, the Dashanbao Black-necked Crane National Nature Reserve, located in Zhaotong City in Yunnan Province, has become a world of ice and snow. Overwintering black-necked cranes had arrived here. They are flying in the sky and singing on the mountain. What amazing scenery in Dashanbao!
According to the Management and Protection Bureau of Dashanbao Natural Reserve, from Nov. 5 to Nov. 29, the number of black-necked crane had reached 1,851, higher than last year.
Together with black-necked cranes, nearly 40 migratory birds such as bar-headed geese, common pochards, and ferruginous pochards have wintered in Dashanbao.
In the following weeks, there will be other kinds of migratory birds arriving in Dashanbao. Most of the black-necked cranes will winter here, while a small portion of them will move to Guizhou Province and other overwintering lands. Management and Protection Bureau of Dashanbao Natural Reserve will monitor these birds to ensure their safe wintering and provide a pleasant habitat in Dashanbao.
