Kunming Area of China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone fully implements pilot reform tasks

As of Aug. 30, Kunming Area of China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone (hereinafter referred to as Kunming Area) has fully implemented 141 pilot reform tasks.

With institutional innovation as the core and replicability and generalizability as the basic requirements, Kunming Area has focused on doing experiments in the transformation of government functions, investment facilitation, trade liberalization, financial innovation along the border, exploring new models of economic and social development along the border, and building a radiation center for South and Southeast Asia since its establishment on Aug. 30, 2019. 141 pilot reform tasks have been fully implemented, 114 cases have been reported, and 50 innovation cases have been released to the public at press conferences. The co-movement of the China-Laos Mohan-Boten Economic Cooperation Zone has been strengthened, building a new cooperation carrier for the China-Laos community with a shared future; the model of Southeast Asian cross-border talent service platform in the area is replicated and promoted outside Yunnan Province, and the spillover effect of characteristic cross-border institutional innovation is becoming more and more prominent. Kunming Area is gradually transforming the advantages of opening-up into construction achievements through a series of institutional innovations.   

According to the person in charge of the Institutional Innovation Department of Kunming Area, Kunming Area will seize the opportunities of China’s opening-up to the south, the operation of the China-Laos Railway, the entry into force of the RCEP, and actively practice the historical mission of the pilot free trade zones. It will comprehensively improve the level of opening up, accelerate the construction of an open economic system, deeply connect with the high-level international economic and trade rules of RCEP, fully serve and integrate into China’s strategy of opening-up to the south, and achieve interconnection in roads, trade, culture and people’s hearts with South Asian and Southeast Asian countries, and promote the construction of a new channel for opening-up to the south with institutional innovation.
