Kunming Area becomes a member of World Free Zones Organization

The Kunming Area of China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) has officially become a member of the World Free Zones Organization (FZO) recently.

The World FZO is a global not-for-profit organization which was established in the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland in 2014, and is headquartered in Dubai UAE. The organization aims to build a platform for members to learn from each other, promote investment and cooperation among enterprises and zones around the world. It can help free economic zones standardize and operate efficiently, and enhance their contribution to economic prosperity and social development. 

It regularly releases decision-making advice and information about global free trade for its members, and organizes online and offline forums, seminars, matching meetings for investment and financing, annual exhibitions, etc.

The World FZO has 734 members from 136 countries and regions up to now, among which 14 members are from China, including China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Nanjing Area, etc.

The Kunming Area is a member with voting qualification in the World FZO, according to the relevant person, who is in charge of the System Innovation Department of Kunming Area. It will make full use of the supporting services and the communicating platform provided by the World FZO, to draw lessons from the international forefront of advanced management experience of FTZ, and explore the construction and development path in line with the target orientation of the Kunming Area. 

At the same time, the Kunming Area will strengthen the influence of the China (Yunnan) Pilot FTZ in international trade, promote in-depth business cooperation with world-renowned free trade zones, deepen opening up, exchanges and cooperation, expand channels for attracting investment, encourage high-quality foreign enterprises to "bring in" and local enterprises to "go global", and promote regional governance, institutional innovation and reform capacity.
