Under the support of Kunming Area of China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Kunming Yunnei Power Co., Ltd., the leading enterprise in the domestic automobile engine production industry, is accelerating the R&D of National VI engine standard, changed the situation that high-end engine is occupied by foreign brands for a long time. In 2021, the company has successfully developed a new gasoline engine and achieved mass production, becoming the first gasoline engine designed for commercial vehicles in China.

“Kunming Area has supported us a lot through the research funding, which was a great help to build the R&D platform, improve R&D capacity,” a related person in charge said.

In recent years, Kunming Area has strongly supported innovation and entrepreneurship, through the “1 + 4 + N” policies to create a great development environment for enterprises to stay and develop. In 2017, Kunming Economic and Technological Development Zone was rated as the National Demonstration Base for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

In 2021, the main business revenue of Kunming Area reached 255 billion yuan, 12,000 new market entities were added, industrial output value reached 1.39 billion yuan, and employed more than 5,000 college graduates and rural laborers.

“Last year, Kunming Area allocated enterprises support funds of more than 800 million yuan, accounting for 30% of the region’s general public budget expenditure, and this year the support fund will reach 1 billion yuan,” said a person in charge of the Economic Development Administration of Kunming Economic and Technological Development Zone. Since last year, Kunming Area has implemented a Three-Year Action Plan for the Demonstration Base for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which will introduce more industrial chain enterprises, spur the vitality of market entities and improve industrial aggregation and competitiveness.
