In Jianshui County, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, pottery can be found everywhere, whether in bustling commercial streets or quiet and peaceful surrounding villages.

In May 2005, Jianshui County ranked the Jianshui Purple Pottery as one of the two key cultural industries. Under the guidance of the policy, more and more Jianshui people began to learn the skill of pottery making.
