Celebrate Spring Festival! Kunming’s Streets Are Blooming

As the 2025 Spring Festival approaches, Kunming's urban landscaping departments have been diligently enhancing the festive atmosphere. Throughout key urban roads, squares, pedestrian streets, transportation hubs, and public spaces, they have introduced vibrant greenery and floral displays to create a joyful and harmonious celebration for both residents and visitors.

Wuhua District

The festive atmosphere along Renmin Middle Road emphasizes the theme of blooming flowers. Large-scale three-dimensional floral displays, including “The Motherland in My Heart” at Wuyi Road Square, “Elephant to Yunnan” near Shenglitang Square, “Colorful Homeland” at Beiguan Square on Zhengyi Road, and “National Unity” in the central greenbelt, have been updated with new arrangements.

Panlong District

At the intersection of Beijing Road and Baiyun Road, the three-dimensional floral display “National Fitness, Healthy China” features figures engaged in activities such as table tennis, running, and cycling. The design incorporates mountain landscapes created with five-color grass, symbolizing the Healthy China theme. Flowers such as wild pansies (in yellow and blue), China pink (in rose and pink), pelargoniums, and white gaura enhance the scene, while seagull motifs emphasize the harmony between humans and nature.

At the intersection of Beijing Road and Dongfeng East Road, the “Carp Leaping over the Dragon Gate” floral display features plants such as coleus scutellarioides (in red, yellow, and green), sedum lineares, and common poppies to depict the Dragon Gate of Xinshan, carp, and tranquil mountain scenes. Fisherman figures symbolize bountiful harvests, conveying warm blessings for prosperity in the new year.

Resort District

The “Dianyu Spring City Ode” display is situated at the intersection of Dianchi Road and Yinghai Road. A peacock floral sculpture, with its vibrant, outstretched feathers, serves as a welcoming host. Seasonal plants such as rhodiola rosea (evoking festive flames), sedum prasinopetalum (symbolizing vitality), and colorful wild pansies (resembling magical fairies) bring this display to life, showcasing Kunming’s dynamic spirit.

A red heart crafted from imported pelargoniums symbolizes the fiery passion of all Chinese people, while yellow wild pansies represent purity and friendship. Together, they reflect the unique cultures of diverse ethnic groups, celebrating unity and harmony for the new year.

Jingkai District

The floral sculpture at the intersection of Nanyuan Road and Cailong Street features a high-speed train design inspired by the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway, symbolizing international friendship. Plants such as pansies, five-color grass, and kalanchoe create this intricate display.
