India's eastern state of West Bengal on Thursday suspended all flights from Britain with effect from Jan. 3 in the wake of Omicron scare.
"The state government has decided to temporarily and until further orders suspend all direct flights from the U.K. (Britain) to Kolkata with effect from Jan. 3," said a senior state government official in a letter to the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
In the letter, the state government official also mentioned that all passengers coming from other non-risk countries by international flights to West Bengal will have to mandatorily undergo a test on arrival at their cost.
