First freight train from Vientiane arrived at Kunming Tengjun port

On Dec 21, the first China-Laos freight train from Vientiane arrived at Kunming Tengjun international inland port, carrying 1,200 tons of fine iron ore imported from Laos.

The cold-chain freight train loaded with Yunnan agricultural products departed from Tengjun international inland port on Dec 4 and arrived at Vientiane South Station, on Dec 5. The international freight train with 1,200 tons of fine iron ore was collected by Kunming Tengjun Port Team bound for Kunming on the return trip. The ore was delivered to a smelter after arriving at Tengjun international inland port.

“The arrival of the freight train shows Tengjun international inland port can provide one-stop integrated service to facilitate the commodities trade and logistics promoted by China-Laos Railway, ” said Tang Heng, the general manager of Yunnan Tengjin Logistics Ltd., a Kunming commercial service-oriented national logistics hub.

“Tengjun international inland port is expected to achieve a yearly trillion Yuan goal of total goods and services transactions. It will serve not only western provinces like Yunnan, Sichuan, and Guizhou well, but also North, Central, and East China, paving the way for a new channel of international supply chains in the future,” added Tang Heng.
