Yunnan cultural and creative products inspired by Asian elephants

As the Creative Yunnan Culture Industries Expo 2021 was opened on October 27, various cultural and creative products are displaying in exhibitions. Many products like post cards, tie-dyed textiles and small ornaments highlighted the Asian elephant elements. They were designed to tap into the potential of cultural IP of Asian elephants through various artistic ways and raise the awareness of the public to conserve the biodiversity.
A few months ago, a group of wild Asian elephants began a journey moving northward in Yunnan province. Their story inspired a variety of cultural and creative products.
There is a special exhibition section called “Places where elephants long for”, including black pottery, patchwork embroidery, tie dyed textiles on display. In particular, the post cards with the theme of elephants’ movements gained much popularity. They relive the lovely and warm moments during the migration of elephants, sharing the charming stories between elephants and human beings to people.
Moreover, some intangible cultural heritage products have incorporated the Asian elephant element into the new design, aiming at calling on all sectors of society to protect Asian elephants and pay more attention to biodiversity.
