Three new species of Oreocharis are discovered in Wenshan

Oreocharis wenshanensis

Three new species of Oreocharis (Gesneriaceae) are discovered in Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan province in a long-term joint scientific expedition done by the management and conservation branch of Wenshan National Nature Reserve, Kunming Institute of Botany, Guangxi Institute of Botany, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Anhui University, Gesneriad Conservation Center of China and other scientific research institutions and universities. 

These findings are published on two papers titled Four new species of Oreocharis (Gesneriaceae) in Yunnan province, China and Petrocodon wenshanensis, a new species of Gesneriaceae from southwestern China in PhytoKeys which is an international peer-reviewed, open-access online and print botanical journal.

Petrocodon wenshanensis

The three newly discovered Oreocharis are Oreocharis wenshanensis, Petrocodon wenshanensis Xin Hong and Oreocharis eriocarpa.

Oreocharis eriocarpa

Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is located in southeast of Yunnan, where there is a very ancient community of rich plant species dominated by tropical and subtropical flora. It is estimated that many new species have not yet been discovered there and more field investigation and research are needed.
