Yunnan Kunming improves environmental governance
—Colourful Yunnan is full of vitality
Dianchi Lake is known as the "Pearl of the Plateau". The Haigeng Dam, adjacent to Dianchi Lake, is an excellent place to appreciate the ecological beauty of Kunming, Yunnan.
Kunming is taking multiple measures to promote the overall improvement of water quality, water environment and water ecology in the Dianchi Lake basin. The Dianchi Resort Area follows the working philosophy of "30% construction, 70% management, equal emphasis on construction and management", focusing on building an ecological belt along the lakeshore.
In the evening, Cristina Andrade, a journalist from Spain's El País, stood on the Haigeng Dam, gazing at the distant mountains and the shimmering surface of the lake, and exclaimed: "Dianchi Lake is so beautiful; the whole city is harmonious and lovely."
The area around the Haigeng Dam on Dianchi Lake in Kunming is picturesque and ecologically harmonious, attracting many tourists.
At the seven-kilometre roundabout on Dianchi Road in Kunming, the "National Unity" sculpture is an eye-catcher, and not far away is the Yunnan Ethnic Village. The diverse architecture of various ethnic minorities, distinctive ethnic costumes, lively folk dances, and music... Albert Kofi Owusu, CEO of the Ghana News Agency, joined the crowd and danced to the rhythm of the drums. He said, "Here I have seen the rich and colourful culture of China's ethnic minorities, and I can feel the its vitality and energy".
Olga Rachel Manguandza, president of the Congo (Brazzaville) News Agency, said: "My country also has ethnic minorities, and China's approach to promoting national unity is worth learning".

Inside the Kunming International Flower Auction Trading Center (KIFA), almost all of the 900 trading desks are full, with an average transaction completed every four seconds. After more than 20 years of development, the Kunming Flower Auction Trading Center has become Asia's largest flower auction market in terms of trading volume. In 2023, Kunming Dounan International Flowers Industrial Park achieved a flower transaction volume of 13.541 billion stems with a transaction value of 13.57 billion yuan.
