Discover Kunming's Newest Photo Destination

During the summer, you can find artistic cafes along the street, surrounded by blooming bougainvillea trees and bright "Kunming Yellow" walls. You can also see the "Cuihu Park-Kunming World Horticultural Expo Garden" railway station sign and the ancient memorial archway of Zhaogong Temple. Many tourists and locals can be seen here. Huanggong East Street, located in the east section of Cuihu South Road, Kunming, has recently become a popular place, attracting many citizens and tourists to take pictures.

In the late Qing Dynasty, Huanggong East Street was also called "Quanyechang Backstreet". In 1918, to commemorate Huang Yuying who made contributions to the Chongjiu Uprising in Kunming, the original Jinzhong Temple in the west of the street was changed to Huanggong Temple. This street was named Huanggong East Street because it is located in the east of the temple.

In the middle section of Huanggong East Street, there still remains the last Qing Dynasty-era bluestone road in the center of Kunming. This 60 to 70-meter stone road was built in the early Qing Dynasty, and it was named "Denghua Street" because it was the path to Wuhua Mountain in the past.

The warm yellow mottled walls and narrow bluestone roads record the ups and downs of that era. The yellow wall of this street is integrated with the Yunnan Liberation Memorial Hall, and the small Western-style building by the Cuihu Lake records the whole process of the liberation of Yunnan.

Strolling on the street, a beautiful yellow wall comes into view. The bougainvilleas hang on the green bench, and the sunlight shines through the leaves, reflecting on the yellow wall. When leaning on the wall, it feels like returning to the old Kunming full of memories.

Tourist: "I know this place from the internet, and I came here to take photos early in the morning. Lin Huiyin's poem 'You are the tender month of April' on the flower wall is beautiful and very suitable for Yunnan."

Tourist: "I think this yellow wall is quite nice, and the flowers match it well. This is our first stop. Next, we will go to explore Cuihu Park. It's very photogenic to take pictures here."

If you want to take pictures here, it is recommended to wear light-colored clothes and come at 10-11 am or 5-6 pm when the sunlight is perfect for taking photos. After visiting here, you can also take photos at Cuihu Park, Yunnan Uprising Memorial, and Yunnan Military Academy. However, it is best to avoid the weekend and pay attention to safety while taking photos.

Cuihu has many unique and beautiful scenery. There are always more views to see and stories to tell. In order to create the "15-minute Art Circle of Cuihu" and tell the story of Cuihu, the streets and alleys in the east of Cuihu South Road incorporate the creative cultural elements of "You are the tender month of April–A Tribute to Architect Lin Huiyin" on the wall. With strong color contrast and a blend of tradition and fashion, it shows the new era of Kunming Cuihu's cultural and historical significance.
