The sunrise at Kunming's Xishan has become a hot spot, attracting many people to climb at midnight to take photos. Due to the large number of tourists crowding to climb the mountain, the staff of the scenic area announced the suspension of the opening of the Lingxu Pavilion area on April 1st for safety considerations.
After a week of suspension, on April 8th, the Xishan Scenic Area announced that the Lingxu Pavilion area would be reopened in an orderly manner from 5 am on April 9th.
Arriving at the south gate of Xishan, it takes about a 10-minute walk to reach the Lingxu Pavilion area to enjoy the stunning sunrise. At the entrance, staff members check the reservation codes of tourists in order, and those who have not made an advance reservation can make one on-site by scanning a QR code.
Upon arrival at the Lingxu Pavilion area, more than a hundred tourists had already gathered on the observation platform, most of whom were college students. They said that they came specifically to watch the sunrise after hearing the news of Lingxu Pavilion's reopening.
As the morning light broke through, even though there was still a hint of chill on the mountaintop, everyone held their breath in anticipation of the moment when the sun would break through the clouds.
A tourist admiring the view said, "It's so therapeutic! In our everyday lives, we experience a lot of stress, and young people may have different or similar struggles. We hope that in the moment when the sun comes out, some of the exhaustion of life can be alleviated."
While watching the sunrise, many tourists noticed that the safety measures in the Lingxu Pavilion area were greatly improved after a week of closure. The guardrails of the viewing platform were raised, lighting facilities were added, and security personnel were patrolling and guiding all the way.
It is understood that after security improvements, the opening hours of the Lingxu Pavilion area have been adjusted from 8:30-17:00 to 5:00-17:00. In order to unify management, visitors who enter the mountain from the North Gate (Nie Er Tomb ticket office) or South Gate between 5:00 and 7:00 every day will have to make a real-name reservation. Visitors who plan to visit during this time slot must make a reservation beforehand via the WeChat account of Kunming Xishan Scenic Area. The maximum number of reservations is 1,500, and visitors with confirmed reservations can directly enter the scenic area by scanning the QR code at the entrance.
In addition, it should be reminded that during the visit, it is prohibited to climb over the guardrails of the observation platform, climb trees and cliffs, and the Xishan Scenic Area is a forest fire prevention area, implementing forest fire prevention and smoking ban throughout the year. Please do not carry any source of fire into the scenic area.
Actually, there are more than just Xishan to watch the sunrise in Kunming. Let's take a look.
Daguanlou Park
The Daguanlou Park, a building with glazed tiles and wooden corners, is located in Kunming City, Yunnan Province. It was built in 1690 by Governor Wang Jiwen. During the Qianlong period, Sun Ranweng wrote a 180-character long couplet for the pavilion, which was regarded as the "best long couplet in the world."
The Daguanlou Park is the best place to watch the sunrise. You can catch the sunrise on the pavilion, while admiring the historical charm of the building, or along the banks of Dianchi Lake, where the vast and boundless sky is illuminated by the warm rays of the rising sun.
Huanhu South Road
The Huanhu South Road also has specially designed bike paths and walking paths for citizens and tourists to better enjoy the beautiful scenery along the Dianchi Lake. You can immerse yourself in the most beautiful Huanhu South Road, slow down, appreciate the sunrise, blue sky, white clouds, green mountains and clear waters, release all fatigue and bad moods, and enjoy the romantic weekend in the Spring City.
