On Nov. 3, eight authorities in China decided to set up 29 national demonstration zones for import promotion and innovation, the Ministry of Commerce said on its website. The eight authorities include the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the People's Bank of China, the General Administration of Customs, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, and the National Medical Products Administration. The China-Laos Mohan-Boten Economic Cooperation Zone is one of the 29 demonstration zones and the only selected demonstration zone in Yunnan Province this time. 

Actively expanding China's imports is an important part of China's promotion of high-level opening-up. In light of the local opening reality, the newly established demonstration zones will effectively strengthen trade promotion and innovation, strongly optimize the business environment, and play the four roles of promoting imports, serving the industries, boosting consumption, and demonstrating leadership.
