In the world of jacana, a female may mate with up to ten males a year. As soon as the eggs are laid, they may fly away in search of the next mating partner.
Males, on the other hand, undertakes the sole responsibility of caring the young, from nest building, constant guarding of the eggs to feeding the chicks.
