Dacun Village is located in mountainous area, nearly 2500 meters in altitude. It is inhabited by Lisu Nationality. In 1950s, a fire burned down all of the traditional wooden houses in the village. During the reconstruction, the residential buildings are built with woods and stones, the outer walls are made of stones, which integrate the architectural styles of Tibetan, Lisu, Naxi and other ethnic groups. The village builds down the hillside, which is one of the most typical local architectural complexes integrating multi-ethnic culture in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, with high artistic value and folk custom research value. At the same time, it reflects the harmonious development of multi-ethnic groups in Diqing. On February 21, 2019, Dacun was listed in the 8th batch of provincial key cultural relics protection units by the government of Yunnan.

“I remember that it was really hard to go back to the village with my father when I was a child. We set up from Benzilan Town in the morning and arrive at Dacun after two days with blisters on my feet. At that time, Dacun was remote and poor, and we could eat meat only during festivals.” The villager Wang Guizhen said, “Now the village takes on an altogether new aspect with straight roads, beautiful scenery, unique buildings and multi-ethnic culture, which attract many tourists to visit here. It is convenient to drive home and take the fresh ingredients back now.”

In the past, people in Dacun village did not have enough to eat. Now, they live a better life and do not have to worry about food anymore. The change of life here is an epitome of the beautiful  Diqing in the new era.
