On September 15, a branch of Yunnan Cancer Hospital (The Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University) in the Kunming Area of China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone was officially inaugurated. 

Yunnan Cancer Hospital (The Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University) is the largest class A cancer specialized hospital in Yunnan Province, integrating medical treatment, teaching, science and prevention. In March this year, Yunnan Cancer Hospital signed a cooperation framework agreement with Kunming Area of China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone to jointly build a branch in the zone. In June, the National Cancer Regional Medical Center jointly built by Beijing Cancer Hospital, Kunming Area Management Committee of China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Yunnan Cancer Hospital (The Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University) was approved by National Development and Reform Commission, National Health Commission and National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The branch in the Kunming Area is defined as the supporting hospital of the construction project of National Cancer Regional Medical Center.

After the completion, the branch will strive to build a high-level hospital focusing on cancer diagnosis and treatment, and providing high-quality medical services. At the same time, as a supporting institution, the branch will also enhance the level of cancer diagnosis and treatment, and strength abilities such as researching and teaching to lay the foundation for the construction of National Cancer Regional Medical Center.

At present, the first and the second phase of the new area of the branch are under construction. The first phase is expected to be completed from July to August next year, and the second phase will be completed during the 14th Five-year Plan. It will have 1,000 to 1,500 beds and be equipped with sophisticated equipment.

Next, the Kunming Area will be fully complete each service guarantee, strengthen the cooperation with Beijing Cancer Hospital, and speed up the establishment of the National Cancer Regional Medical Center to benefit cancer patients in and outside the province and southeast Asian countries and regions, and to create an international brand of free trade cancer hospital.
