Trans-provincial group tourism can be resumed after being suspended for about half a year, but the outbound travel is still suspended amid coronavirus pandemic, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced on its website Tuesday.

According to the ministry's notice, under the premise of good epidemic prevention and control and the agreement of local authorities, both offline and online travel agencies can resume their operation on trans-provincial group tourism and air ticket and hotel booking business, except for some mid-and-high risk regions.

Such business has been suspended nationwide for 172 days due to coronavirus outbreak.

For visiting scenic areas, the ministry said the maximum number of visitors could now be 50 percent of the areas' capacity, a step up from the previous limit of 30 percent.

But the scenic areas still need to control human flow and ask visitors to book tickets online in advance.
