Time flies by, but nostalgia never changes. For the residents living in Qibuchang, Chenggong, Kunming, the nostalgia is their traditional handmade tofu that nurtured generations for years. In order to inherit the handmade tofu making technology, and also to meet the needs of economic development, a characteristic tofu culture arose and flourished here.
Qibuchang village was once called Fengle village in the early Qing dynasty, located in the center of Chenggong district, Kunming city. It is famous for its clean water, high quality soybeans and unique tofu making skills. Visitors shall love the tofu feast there.
Tofu Ball
Mix minced pork with tofu, and roll into balls. Boil them with pea leaves or fresh veggies, then a delicious dish is ready.
Fried Stinky Tofu
Cut the stinky tofu into strips and slowly fry it over low heat until golden brown. It is tender with a crispy crust.
Grilled Tofu
Roast tofu over the fire until until golden brown on all sides. It is better to eat with dipping sauce.
Stewed Tofu
Stew tofu with green pepper and red pepper. It not only has attractive color, but also tastes good.
Tofu Pudding
The soft tofu pudding can be eaten with sugar as well as chili and soy sauce. Each taste has its own characteristics.
Now the tofu feast has become a cultural calling card of Chenggong. Local people incorporate the concept of healthy eating, turning their traditional handmade tofu into unique and delicious dishes. “People who come to Kunming must try the tofu banquet,” a local suggested.
