Sojourning in Shadi Village is not a hurried, superficial tourism trip, but an immersive experiment in rural life. With rapeseed flowers in spring, lotus blossoms in summer, and rice fields in autumn... Living here, you can discover a new experience of life with each passing season.
The experience of sojourning is renewed every day, and the scenery changes with each season
Shadi Village, located in Jincheng Sub-district of Jinning District, is a century-old fishing village. In recent years, with the deepening of Dianchi Lake conservation efforts and the launch of the Beautiful Countryside Construction Project along its shores, Shadi Village has been undergoing a transformation. Since 2018, the village has gradually dismantled its vegetable greenhouses, returned to traditional agricultural practices, and embraced the concept of ecological agriculture to build a beautiful countryside. While protecting Dianchi Lake, the village is exploring a unique development path that reflects the distinctive character of Shadi Village.
Relying on its excellent environment, beautiful scenery, and convenient transportation, Shadi Village has integrated tourism into its development strategy to boost the rural tourism economy. Local guesthouses, restaurants, and other businesses are becoming increasingly diverse. With options such as flower viewing by Dianchi Lake, farming experiences, family-friendly activities, and local cuisine, sojourners can enjoy a wide range of immersive experiences. Every day in Shadi Village offers a new way of life waiting to be discovered.
No matter which season you choose to sojourn in Shadi Village, the local scenery is sure to leave a lasting impression. In spring, the golden sea of rapeseed flowers is the most breathtaking sight. A small green train winds through the blossoms, while a gentle breeze stirs the flowers, creating waves that attract bees and butterflies dancing in the air-a vibrant springtime tableau. When summer arrives, the lotus flowers in the village ponds bloom in full splendor. Their delicate pink petals sway gently, standing out vividly against the lush green leaves, filling the lotus ponds with life and vitality.
As autumn arrives, the rice ripens, and the golden rice fields emit a gentle fragrance, filling the air with the scent of harvest. What makes Shadi Village even more special is the rare sight of colorful rice fields. When viewed from above, these vibrant fields resemble an earthy palette, sketching out intricate patterns that showcase the unique fusion of agricultural culture and natural beauty. Sojourning in Shadi Village means being surrounded by endless pastoral landscapes throughout the year.
The golden section of Dianchi Greenway has a rich and diverse living life
"Since the opening of the offshore section of the Dianchi Greenway, not only cyclists but also an increasing number of tourists have been visiting the village. Some pass by and are captivated by the scenery, stopping to rest and enjoy a meal-treating the village as a pit stop. Others come specifically to admire the flowers and spend their holidays, often choosing to stay in local guesthouses for a while," said Zheng Tao, Secretary of the Party Branch of Shadi Village, Jincheng Sub-district Office, Jinning District, Kunming. "For instance, some tourists from Shandong Province were so fond of Shadi Village that they even opened a guesthouse here." Shadi Village has attracted not only tourists but also more sojourners, who are drawn to this picturesque fishing village with its diverse offerings.
Living in Shadi Village, you can easily access the Dianchi Greenway right at your doorstep. The Shadi section of the greenway boasts expansive pastoral landscapes and abundant wetland ecosystems. Whether you're strolling leisurely or cycling freely through the wetlands, villages, and farmlands, the fresh air carries the fragrance of soil and blooming flowers. Every breath feels refreshing, evoking a sense of boundless relaxation and comfort.
Drawing a 10-kilometer radius around Shadi Village reveals a microcosm of the cultural tapestry along Dianchi Lake. This area captures the tranquility of rural life, the richness of intangible cultural heritage, and even the culinary delights that promise a feast for the senses.
From Shadi Village, you can drive to Gudianjingpin Wetland Park, Colorful Yunnan Paradise, and Gudian Hot Spring Villa within 10 minutes, adding a touch of leisure and fun to your sojourn. Just 15 minutes away is Fuan Village, a traditional Chinese village, where you can immerse yourself in intangible cultural heritage practices such as traditional incense-making, tea painting, paper cutting, embroidery, silver-decorating skill on black copper, and Mi Hua Tuan (a traditional Chinese snack made from rice and maltose). These experiences offer a profound cultural connection to the land.
Traditional rural dishes from the Dianchi Lake area, such as fish stewed with aged sauce and pickled fish, as well as local snacks like stinky tofu, cold rice noodles, and corn cakes, are must-try delicacies during your stay in Shadi. With just one taste, your palate will be gently captivated by the flavors of Dianchi, making these dishes an essential highlight of your sojourn.
From the Dianchi Greenway to the Gudian Wetland, from pastoral landscapes to farming traditions, and from a quick "day trip" with the snap of a camera to an immersive sojourn of harvesting rice and catching fish, Shadi Village is no longer just a backdrop in tourists' photos. Instead, it is transforming into a "spiritual homeland" where people are willing to unpack their bags, slow down, and reconnect with the land.
