India's factory activity growth, determined by the index of industrial production, grew 5 percent in January, government data showed Wednesday.
The growth rate for January was 5.0 percent, compared to 3.2 percent in December 2024, according to the data issued by the federal ministry of statistics and program implementation.
Growth rates of three sectors, mining, manufacturing and electricity, for January are 4.4 percent, 5.5 percent and 2.4 percent respectively, the data showed.
The data revealed that within the manufacturing sector, the top three positive contributors for January are manufacture of basic metals (6.3 percent), manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (8.5 percent) and manufacture of electrical equipment (21.7 percent).
