On February 10th, a brand-new garden near Dianchi Lake in Kunming captivated a number of visitors. Named Monet Garden, it is located close to the Haihong Wetland Park in the Kunming Dianchi Resort Area and officially opened to the public during the Spring Festival.
On February 10th, a reporter from Kaiping News visited Monet Garden and was immediately drawn in by the stunning flower fields, as if stepping into a vivid oil painting. From above, the array of colorful flowers formed shapes like hearts, butterflies, and stripes, presenting a beautiful spring scene.
Among the attractions, the most eye-catching were a giant cat and two mermaids, which harmonized with the surrounding flowers and became popular photo spots for visitors. In addition to the blooming flowers, hydrangeas, Japanese maple, and rosa chinensis have begun to sprout, promising an impressive display during the summer and autumn seasons.
One visitor, delighted by the experience, remarked, "It's wonderful to see so many flowers by Dianchi Lake. I hope there can be more gardens like this so that residents and tourists have more places to explore."
Li Guiping, the head of Monet Garden, shared that the garden's design inspiration comes from the renowned French painter Monet's depictions of gardens. Currently, the garden spans over 110 acres and features more than 60 varieties of flowers, many of which are unique and have long blooming periods. The garden showcases the "Sea of Flowers in Four Seasons" as its theme, with carefully arranged flowers and greenery highlighting the beauty of Kunming throughout the different seasons. To cater to visitors’ viewing needs, Monet Garden has also created several themed areas, including a pond area primarily featuring water lilies, which will bloom in summer, promising a different kind of stunning vista.
Li Guiping stated, "The entire garden from design to construction took only three months, with a total investment of approximately 30 million yuan. In the future, we will rotate the flower varieties seasonally to provide even more diverse experiences for residents and tourists."
Currently, Monet Garden is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with tickets priced at 19.9 yuan per person. In addition to the beautiful flower displays, the garden also offers various snacks and RV (recreational vehicle) camping facilities to meet the diverse consumption needs of visitors.
