Bangladesh establishes new unit to monitor law and order situation

The Bangladeshi interim government has established a joint command center to monitor the country's law and order situation.

Bangladeshi Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam made the announcement Sunday, saying the center is starting its functioning from Sunday to better coordinate "Operation Devil Hunt" which began a day earlier.

Apart from members of the law enforcement agencies, he said representatives of armed forces will work at the command center.

He expressed the hope that the country's law and order situation will improve following the establishment of the center.

Bangladeshi interim government's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus had earlier reportedly asked for creating a "command center" for monitoring intensively the country's law and order situation.

Bangladesh on Saturday launched "Operation Devil Hunt," a drive of the joint forces, amid the reports of a noticeable rise in incidents of violence, murder, mugging and robbery.
