Int'l arrivals to Vietnam up 39.5 pct in 2024

Vietnam recorded nearly 17.6 million international visitor arrivals in 2024, up 39.5 percent from 2023 and equivalent to 97.6 percent of the pre-pandemic level in 2019, Vietnam News reported Tuesday, citing the country's General Statistics Office.

The foreign tourists were mostly from Asia, with nearly 14 million in number, up 43.1 percent compared to the previous year, followed by European visitors with over 1.9 million, up 36.8 percent, and visitors from the Americas with over 1 million, up 10.7 percent.

Among the foreign visitor arrivals to Vietnam in 2024, over 14.8 million traveled by air, accounting for 84.4 percent of the total and marking an increase of 35.6 percent year on year.

Almost 2.5 million traveled by land and nearly 248,100 others entered Vietnam by sea routes.

Revenues from tourism services in 2024 were estimated to reach 62.5 trillion Vietnamese dong (2.45 billion U.S. dollars), up 16 percent year on year as localities stepped up tourism promotion to attract domestic and foreign visitors.
