Pakistani gov't announces public holidays for 2025

The Pakistani government announced 17 public holidays for 2025, detailing key dates for observances across the country throughout the year, according to a decision by the Cabinet Division on Monday.

A notification published on the Cabinet Division's website showed that the schedule includes national, religious, and cultural holidays, which would be observed on specific days.

The list begins with Kashmir Day to be observed on February 5, followed by Pakistan Day on March 23.

The country will observe Eid-ul-Fitr from March 30 to April 1, marking three days of nationwide celebrations, while Eid-ul-Adha will also be observed for three days from June 7 to June 9.

The Muslim religious occasion of Ashura will be observed on July 5 and 6, followed by Eid Milad-un-Nabi (the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad) on Sep. 5.

The Labor Day will fall on May 1, Youm-e-Takbeer on May 28, Independence Day on Aug. 14, Allama Iqbal Day on Nov. 9, Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas on Dec. 25.

The cabinet division added that the banks will also remain closed on January 1, the first day of the Islamic month of Ramadan, likely on March 1, and July 1, the 1st day of the next financial year.

The Cabinet Division added that in the case of Muslim festivals, the dates of holidays will be based on anticipated dates and are subject to the appearance of the moon, for which a separate notification will be issued.
