Vietnam's aquatic exports driven by shrimp, pangasius in 2024

Vietnam's aquatic exports reached 10 billion U.S. dollars in 2024, driven by shrimp and pangasius, Vietnam News Agency reported on Tuesday, citing the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.

Shrimp and pangasius accounted for 60 percent of the total revenues, the report said.

Shrimp's overseas shipments climbed 16.7 percent to 4 billion dollars this year, while pangasius export revenues increased 8.9 percent to 2 billion dollars compared to 2023.

Despite raw material shortages, tuna exports hit 1 billion dollars, up 18 percent year on year.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said Vietnamese seafood companies were increasingly showcasing their capabilities in advanced processing and high-quality production, laying a foundation for the sector to exceed 10 billion dollars in 2025 toward the goal of 11 billion dollars.
