"Love Without Barriers": The First Yunnan Welfare Lottery Public Health Run Kicked Off in Kunming

On December 21, the Yunnan Welfare Lottery Public Health Run with the theme of "United in Public Welfare, Together with Welfare Lottery," took place as scheduled by the shores of Dianchi Lake in Kunming. The event comprised of three categories: the Health Group (10 kilometers), the Joy Group (3 kilometers), and the Parent-Child Group (3 kilometers), with the Joy Group open to participants with disabilities. The aim is to promote public welfare concepts through running and to enhance societal awareness and support for people with disabilities. This event was organized by the Department of Civil Affairs of Yunnan Province and hosted by the Yunnan Provincial Welfare Lottery Issuing Center.

The event proudly invited Yang Hongqiong, a Paralympic Winter Games champion from Yunnan, to attend and lend her support. As a winner of three gold medals in women's long-distance and middle-distance sitting cross-country skiing, as well as short-distance sitting skiing at the 2022 Beijing Paralympic Winter Games, Yang inspired every attendee with her story of perseverance and engaged with sports enthusiasts to spread positive energy centered around equality, mutual assistance, respect, and appreciation.

On the morning of the event, as the health run officially commenced, marathon enthusiast "Gan Cao" led the crowd in warm-up exercises to prepare adequately for the upcoming activities.

As the starting gun fired, the runners surged forward like arrows released from a bow, racing towards the finish line with determination. This event attracted over 700 sports enthusiasts from various sectors of society. Everyone was dressed in matching sports gear, exuding energy and enthusiasm. Multiple check-in points were set up on-site, and each participant received a unique "Heart Passport." By completing specific tasks at each check-in point during the run, they collected stamps to exchange for exquisite gifts.

The event venue featured three major exhibition areas, allowing runners to enjoy the joy of sports while deepening their understanding of the allure of public welfare activities. These included a themed exhibition area on geographical culture, a themed exhibition area on Yunnan Welfare Lottery, and a display and experience area for rehabilitation aids.

Runners actively participated in the exciting activities in the interactive experience area.

An interactive zone at the venue included a darkness experience area that simulated the living environment of visually impaired individuals, allowing participants to complete simple tasks in total darkness to enhance their understanding of the challenges faced by visually impaired people and raise awareness of the importance of accessible facilities and the role of visual impairment assistive tools. The venue also hosted a charity sale for the "Starlight Brightening Plan," where artwork created by teenagers with autism was sold to raise funds for charity.
