Recently, Leju Village, located in Xishan District of Kunming City, has attracted the attention of many tourists for its unique historical culture and natural scenery.
Leju Ancient Yi Village is located 23 kilometres away from Kunming city. It is built on the mountain and has a history of more than 600 years. It is the most complete ancient Han and Yi village in China. More than 80 ancient buildings have been preserved. It has become an important protection unit of historical and cultural villages in Yunnan Province and Kunming City, and has been included in the second batch of traditional Chinese villages. The village has more than 20 kinds of business, including folk customs, inns, wineries, tea houses, restaurants, and bakeries.
With the arrival of autumn, Leju Village is the best time to visit. Leju Village retains a relatively intact original style, with stone paths, blue-grey tiles and peeling clay walls that tell of the vicissitudes of time.
There is a small market under the archway of Leju Ancient Yi Village. Old ladies in traditional costume bring freshly harvested produce from the mountains to city dwellers eager to see something new.
Step into the village, people will see many "Yikeyin" style houses. It is named for their layout, which resembles an ancient official seal, typically square or nearly square, with a courtyard at the center surrounded by houses. Strolling through the bluestone-paved alleys and experiencing the tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the city has become one of the most coveted lifestyles for many.
Whether for city dwellers seeking spiritual solace or travelers eager to explore new cultures, this is a unique and worthwhile destination.
