Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Wednesday hailed Huawei's efforts in helping the country develop information communication technologies (ICT) and related talents, said a news release from the prime minister's cabinet.
Hun Manet made the remarks when meeting with Lin Baifeng, president of Huawei Asia Pacific, saying Huawei has invested in Cambodia for the past 25 years and significantly contributed to developing ICT talents for the kingdom.
"Samdech Thipadei expressed his satisfaction with Huawei's continued support for the development of human resources in the area of modern digital technologies," the news release said.
Samdech Thipadei is the honorific title of Hun Manet.
The support "has importantly contributed to the implementation of the royal government's Pentagonal Strategy - Phase 1, which focuses on building human capital with skills and knowledge to ensure high productivity and to transform Cambodia into a digital economy and society," it added.
Both sides also discussed an initiative to establish a regional technology and digital training center in Cambodia, the news release said, adding that they also vowed to encourage young people to embrace digital skills to contribute to the future economic development of Cambodia.
During the meeting, Lin expressed his thanks to the Cambodian government for supporting Huawei's presence in the country since 1999, affirming that the company would continue to assist Cambodia in the development of digital technologies and ICT talents.
