On a summer night, the deep night sky dotted with stars is most captivating when adorned by the splendid Milky Way. Located in Gengga Township, Changning County, Baoshan City, at an altitude of 1,700 meters, the Gengga West Mountain is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. With its lush mountains and clear waters, fresh air, and excellent ecological environment, it is an ideal destination for stargazing on summer nights.
On the evening of May 28th, Changning's Gengga experienced a rare clear sky. Several local astronomy enthusiasts took advantage of the clear night to climb to the top of Gengga West Mountain. They set up various stargazing and photography equipment and began to gaze at the sky, engaging in a silent dialogue with the vast starry night.
As night fell, a tranquil silence enveloped Gengga West Mountain. The hazy night cast a mysterious veil over the rolling mountains. Sitting atop the mountain, enjoying cool breezes, you can hear summer insects singing their love songs in forests. The countless stars broke through the night veil, and the fireflies danced around like little elves all over the mountain, creating a scene reminiscent of a comic book world.
"The summer night sky faces the direction of the Milky Way, making it the best time to gaze at the most bright stars on clear summer nights. Therefore, the summer Milky Way is known for being bright and spectacular," said Mr. Liu, a photography enthusiast in his forties.
Under the tranquil night sky, the undulating mountains and silent villages in the distance complemented the magnificent Milky Way, like a colorful oil painting, stunning and unforgettable. "Although the Milky Way can be seen all year round, summer is the best season to admire it. In places with little light pollution, the Milky Way is clearly visible to the naked eye, resembling smoke or gauze, very magnificent," said photography enthusiast Kong Zhonghao.
"Nowadays, many people are busy with work and life. We, a group of photography enthusiasts, chose to climb to the top of Gengga West Mountain to stargaze in pursuit of a unique state of mind. By observing the Milky Way and admiring the starry sky, we wash away the busyness and nurture our minds," Mr. Liu explained.
