A corner of Daxiechang.
Driving from Silan Expressway towards Nuozhadu, when you see the rugged mountain roads lined with stone lamps on both sides, you have entered Daxiechang, the first post station of the Ancient Tea Horse Road after crossing the Lancang River. The local government has fully tapped into the historical resources of the ancient Tea Horse Road, transforming Daxiechang with 81 households and 294 people, from a village deep in the mountains into a popular internet-famous village with an increasingly improved life.
Picao Street at an altitude of 1314 meters is the place with the most characteristics in Daxiechang. In the past, the leaders of the caravans rested here before crossing the rugged mountains after crossing the Lancang River, and over time, it became a fixed point and resting place for merchants and caravans, thus earning the name Daxiechang (a place for rest). Walking along the stone steps into the Ancient Tea Horse Road Museum, you can learn about the history of ethnic minorities coexisting, the exchange of caravans, slash-and-burn farming, as well as different ethnic cultures and the culture of caravans.
The local government has fully made use of the culture of the Ancient Tea Horse Road, using the resources of the local residents as a production base, turning fields into scenic spots, coffee and tea gardens into parks, and developing leisure tourism experiences, showcasing the cultural charm of the Ancient Tea Horse Road. In 2023, the total income of the entire village reached 6.638 million yuan, with a per capital net income of 11,879 yuan.
