Located on the eastern shore of Dianchi Lake, Santai Mountain Park in Chenggong District is named for its three-tiered terrain. The park offers one of the best vantage points to view the panorama of Dianchi Lake and the Sleeping Beauty. In the past, Santai Mountain was covered with pine and cypress, with towering ancient trees, and listed as one of Chenggong’s famous "Sixteen Sceneries." Li Zhi, a philosopher of the Ming Dynasty who served as the magistrate of Yao'an County in Yunnan, once climbed Santai Mountain. Overlooking Dianchi Lake, he penned the famous line: "A panoramic view of the vast sea, a grass pavilion atop the three tiers."
