Tengchong: An eco-friendly and livable city

Tengchong City of Yunnan Province has an annual average rainfall of 1,531 millimeters and a forest coverage rate of 77.23%. With its superior ecological environment and mild climate, it has been rated as “one of the most suitable places for human habitation.” Across Tengchong City, Gaoligong Mountain is hailed as a “gene pool for species,” listed as a “biodiversity conservation circle ” by UNESCO, and classified as a Grade A protected area by the World Wildlife Fund.

In recent years, Tengchong City upheld the principle of “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,” and adhered to the “ecological-oriented development” strategy. With building a “beautiful Tengchong” as the goal, Tengchong has continuously taken effective measures to enhance ecological environment protection. As a result, it has been awarded honors such as the national practice and innovation base of the principle of “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,” the national forest health base, and the national garden city.

Tengchong City has achieved high-quality and efficient development in its ecological industry, with a total of 16,354,300 visitors received and a total tourist revenue of 17.812 billion yuan. Tengchong is embarking on a green development path of ecological beauty and prosperity for the people.
