Cambodia's anti-drug police have arrested three people for allegedly trafficking illicit drugs, confiscating more than 100 kilograms of narcotics, the National Police reported on Wednesday.
The suspects, a foreign woman and two local men were apprehended on Monday during raids on two locations in the capital Phnom Penh after an investigation for several months.
"A total of 102.3 kilograms of ketamine was seized from the suspects during the crackdowns," the National Police said on its website.
It was the second large-scale drug bust in recent weeks.
On Tuesday last week, police in the coastal city of Sihanoukville arrested six foreigners for smuggling some 790 kilograms of ketamine from a neighboring country.
The Southeast Asian country has no death sentence for a drug trafficker. Under its law, someone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drugs could be jailed for life.
According to the country's Anti-Drug Department (ADP), Cambodia nabbed 10,167 drug-related suspects, including 215 foreigners, during the January-July period of 2023, seizing more than 979 kg of narcotics.
Most of the seized drugs were heroin, ecstasy, ketamine, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, and cathinone.
