A Mushroom Museum "Sprouts" in This School

Every year during the rainy season, people in Yunnan understand that it's the perfect time to indulge in wild mushrooms!

Yunnan is one of the provinces with the richest biodiversity in China, known as the "Kingdom of Plant," and is highly suitable for the growth of wild mushrooms. Various departments in Yunnan have continuously strengthened the promotion and popularization of knowledge about wild mushrooms.

Recently, a wild mushroom museum with both educational and artistic elements was unveiled in the Fude Elementary School in Guandu District, Kunming.
Adjacent to Yunnan Mushuihua Wild Mushroom Trading Center, the largest wild mushroom trading market in China, this elementary school is mainly attended by students whose parents are engaged in occupations related to wild mushrooms. The thriving wild mushroom market accompanies their growth.
With intriguing and heartfelt slogans, this museum has nearly 400 square meters of space and almost 400 wild mushroom specimens. Enter here and you will step into a magical "mushroom world."
In the "Mushroom Imagination" area, three paintings titled "Sunflower," "Rose," and "Apricot Blossom" are crafted using wild mushrooms such as boletus edulis and phallus indusiatus. The art area also showcases numerous wild mushroom paintings and handicrafts.
While the museum opened, Fude Elementary School's students also celebrated the Wild Mushroom Campus Culture Festival. Since 2015, the school has been organizing this festival annually.
On the playground, children set up a wild mushroom market; in the corridors, they held an eco-fashion show featuring wild mushrooms; in the classrooms, they extracted essential oils from wild mushrooms and observed mushroom spawns.
Currently, the school has established a complete knowledge system including "categorizing wild mushroom species," "researching methods of preserving wild mushrooms," "extracting essential oils from wild mushrooms," and "promoting awareness of poisonous mushrooms." Comprehensive wild mushroom practical courses have been developed.
The school actively deepens the research-oriented educational reform in the context of ecological civilization education, allowing children to immerse themselves in learning about wild mushrooms and fostering their love for nature and their hometown.
