Myanmar exported more than 1.91 million tons of beans and pulses in the 2022-23 fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday.
The country's 2022-23 fiscal year started on April 1 last year and ended on March 31 this year. During the period, Myanmar earned over 1.47 billion U.S. dollars from the exports of beans and pulses, the ministry's data showed.
During the period, Myanmar shipped over 1.64 million tons of beans and pulses via sea routes and transported over 278,378 tons of beans and pulses through land borders, the data said.
The Southeast Asian country usually does most of its foreign trade through sea routes as it has a long coastline. It conducts border trade with China, Thailand, Bangladesh and India.
Beans and pulses are Myanmar's second-most cultivated crops after rice and account for 33 percent of the country's total agricultural production.
