Around 148,500 enterprises were estimated to be formed in Vietnam in 2022, posting an increase of 27.1 percent year on year, according to the country's General Statistics Office on Monday.
The registered capital of the new enterprises decreased 1.3 percent on year to 1,590.9 trillion Vietnamese dong (67.4 billion U.S. dollars), said the office.
The number of new firms established in the year rose 31.9 percent in the services sector, 16.1 percent in the industry and construction sector, and decreased by 2 percent in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector compared to 2021.
Between January and December of 2022, about 59,800 firms that previously ceased operations resumed their activities, surging 38.8 percent on the year. However, in the same period, around 11,900 firms were estimated to withdraw from the market each month, according to the office.
Last year, Vietnam saw 116,800 enterprises established with total registered capital of over 1,611 trillion Vietnamese dong (68 billion U.S. dollars), down 13.4 percent in quantity and 27.9 percent in the capital against 2020.
