As more South Asian political leaders congratulate the new leadership of the Communist Party of China, they also look forward to China's role in further maintaining peace and stability across the globe in these challenging times.
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday extended the heartiest congratulations and warmest felicitations to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. "Your reelection is undoubtedly a fitting recognition of the trust and confidence reposed on you for your able leadership, achievements and vision by the people of China and the CPC," she said.
She added that Bangladesh welcomes Chinese endeavors to build a community with a shared future for mankind and appreciates the continued support of socioeconomic development aspirations of developing countries.
Hasina said in a press statement that she believes Xi and China "will contribute further to maintaining peace and stability across the globe in this challenging time".
She also said she looks forward to working in close cooperation with Chinese leaders "to enhance the bilateral engagements further, strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries and peoples, and promote peace and stability in the region and the world".
Prakash Karat, former general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), said the reelection of Xi as general secretary of the CPC Central Committee is an "important step" which will further strengthen the development of China as a major economic power and also provide the leadership to fulfill China's role as a global power to promote peace and development around the world.
The last 10 years have shown that Xi's leadership has been extremely successful in steering China toward rapid growth and development, Karat said.
D. Raja, general secretary of the Communist Party of India, or CPI, said: "China is building a strong socialist country with Chinese characteristics" under Xi's leadership. "We will look forward to China and its role in global politics," he said.
N. K. Premachandran, senior leader of the Revolutionary Socialist Party and member of the Indian parliament, congratulated Xi and said India and China should grow together toward peace and development because the two Asian giants have to grow together.
Rashed Khan Menon, chairman of the Workers Party of Bangladesh, said: "China's peaceful rise will be a blessing for the world to promote common peace and progress."
Talking over the phone from Dhaka, Menon said Xi's work and leadership during the pandemic and complicated global politics are commendable. "I admire the remarkable achievements of Xi," he said, adding that he and others of his party draw inspiration from the CPC.
Madhav Kumar Nepal, chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) and former Nepali prime minister, said the achievement of China, guided by CPC ideology, has become an inspiration to the whole world.
"I hope the fraternal relation, friendship, mutual support and solidarity between our two parties will be strengthened and deepened in the days to come," he said.
