Myanmar kicked off its mid-year gems emporium in the capital city of Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday, state-run Myanmar Radio and Television reported.
The emporium will put a total of 400 pearl lots, 120 gems lots and 2,150 jade lots on sale at the seven-day event which will last until Oct. 25, the report said.
Foreign merchants will purchase the jade, gems and pearl lots in U.S. dollars, Chinese yuan and Thai baht, and local merchants will buy them in kyats, it said.
Myanmar held its 57th Gems Emporium in Nay Pyi Taw in April.
The gems emporium, launched in 1964, is sponsored by Myanmar's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation.
