On World Elephant Day, which is observed every year on August 12, let’s see how “Longlong” is doing in the Asian Elephant Breeding and Rescue Center in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province. Look, Longlong is running for food in the forest under the leadership of an “elephant father”, which is the nickname of the staff at the center. The field activity was specially arranged by the center to ensure that Longlong can adapt to the wild environment as soon as possible in the future.

A baby elephant in Xishuangbanna was abandoned by its herd only about two months after its birth due to severe injuries and infection of its left foreleg in July of 2021. Xishuangbanna achieved a multi-sectoral joint rescue and sent the elephant to the Asian Elephant Breeding and Rescue Center in Xishuangbanna for treatment, and named it "Longlong". Under the care of full-time wildlife conservation workers, Longlong has recovered health and grown up.
