Southwest China's Yunnan province has transmitted more than 75.8 billion kilowatt hours of clean energy to major power consumption hubs in the country during the first half this year, up 52 percent year-on-year, said its operator China Southern Power Grid.
All of the power is produced from clean energy, mostly hydropower, said the company, whose business covers five areas in the country - Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou and Hainan provinces and the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
As part of the massive west-to-east electricity transmission project in the country, the project exploits the abundant hydropower resources in Yunan, as well as Guizhou and Sichuan provinces, and transfers electricity eastward to South, Central and North China.
The west-to-east electricity transmission project will also greatly benefit the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, it said.
